Talk about a classy guy.

Penn Badgley may be Blake Lively’s ex-boyfriend but that doesn’t mean he can’t have well wishes for her and new hubby Ryan Reynolds.

“I’m happy,” he told me earlier today while promoting his new indie flick, Greetings From Tim Buckley, at the Toronto International Film Festival. “That’s great.”

He doesn’t know much about the surprise nuptials, “I’ve only heard what you guys have heard.”

Badgley and Lively were together for three years before splitting up in 2010. He now datesLenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet’s daughter, actress Zoe Kravitz, 23.

Badgley, Lively and the rest of will wrap the final season of Gossip Girl in just five weeks.

“It’s been bittersweet for awhile, but I think it’s time,” said Badgley, 25, adding, “I’m ready to move on. I’ve loved the experience of it very much, but I’m ready. I think we’re all ready.”

He teased that Dan is going to go down a “dark path finally” before the series ends.

“I think he might be betraying people in a way…like he’s never been allowed, never had the balls to,” Badgley said.

As we know, Badgley wasn’t at TIFF just to talk about an ex’s wedding and his work on Gossip Girl.

Greetings From Tim Buckley centers on the true story surrounding singer Jeff Buckley’s performance at his late folk music icon father’s tribute concert. The show is largely credited as launching Jeff’s own singing career, which was cut way too short when he accidently drowned in 1997 at just 30 years old.

However, this is not a film about Jeff’s life, but rather the story of a young man grappling with the death of a father he never really knew. “We’re not trying to tell the large flashy biopic story because he wasn’t a large flashy guy,” Badgley said. “He was just this…quite soulful dude. It’s tragic, but we’re not romanticizing his death.

“We just took this quiet moment in his life when he was finding his voice,” he continued. “It’s really a sweet soulful movie.”

Leighton Meester on Moving on From Gossip Girl, Finding New Love in Music — Exclusive

This time next year, we’ll be saying goodbye to our favorite (and not-so-favorite) characters of Gossip Girl as they wrap up this seasons-long chapter of their lives. But for their real-life counterparts, that chapter is already nearly closed as the actors move full steam ahead into a future beyond the designer-clad world of the Upper East Side.

One of the show’s biggest stars, Leighton Meester, has already made a big geographical switch — from New York to Los Angeles — to commit more time to her other passion: music. “It kind of already feels like it’s coming to an end now because I’m basically living in another place and moving on to something else,” says the woman behind the fiery Blair Waldorf in an exclusive interview with Wetpaint Entertainment. That “something else” has led to her first tour (five shows on the west coast, which kicks off May 29) with band and longtime pals Check in the Dark, whom she calls her “musical soul mates.”

We may be nearing the end of our love affair with GG, but if it’s any consolation, Leighton is prepared to give us the sweetest breakup song ever. Read on for more of our chat with Leighton:

On the beginning of the end for Gossip Girl:
We don’t go back to New York until July, and we only have four months of shooting [Season 6] so […] it’s kind of a good thing and a bad thing. I’m excited to for it to end because I’m ready for a new chapter […], and at the same time, the thing I’ll miss the most is the people that I work with. Everyone’s like family — the crew [and] everyone that we work with every day in New York.”

On moving from New York to Los Angeles:
“It’s just such a great, warm, creative environment. And to be around everybody and my friends, to be able to be outside. It feels right […]. Home is the west coast for me […]. It feels right and it feels great that our first tour is going to such great cities on the west coast.”

On comparing music versus acting:
“[Playing Blair] is intense, but music is intense in a different way [and] in a very personal way. When I play a character, it’s pretty much the exact opposite. I mean, I do find parts of the character in myself — and it’s absolutely rewarding to be able to draw from experiences of my own, but the music is my experience. It’s what I’m feeling in that moment.

“I feel like the songs I’ve written these past couple years, that we’re going to be performing [on the tour], they really are an expression of how I felt [at that moment] […]. It’s completely different [than acting], it’s a different art form — and I’m really, really glad that I have it because it’s part of what keeps me sane — if I can call myself that.”

On how Gossip Girl influenced fans’ music tastes:
“[We had] very interesting bands that I don’t think I’d heard of before they came on the show. I think [the show’s] great at doing that, at finding new kind of cool music and introducing it to the mainstream — which is awesome.”

On connecting with a new fanbase:
“I feel like some hardcore fans who have already made it to shows […], they will totally understand the vibe. And I’m excited to introduce our new sound to people who have no idea what they’re in for — and that’s what I’ve been excited about.”

On singing in Country Strong — and its impact on her as an artist:
“I was definitely influenced by being part of [the movie], and being part of a completely different world and genre of music. And I mean, before that […] I was doing pop music. And as much as I can discuss that with pride […], personally, the music I’m doing now is way more of a reflection of who I am, who I’ve become, and where I’m headed.”

The CW  is scheduled to have its upfront events on MAY 17TH, 2012.

Guess we’ll finally find out if Gossip Girl will return or if they do, how many episodes they’re getting for the 2012-2013 season.

Gossip Girl” will likely be renewed for a shortened sixth and final season, according to an individual close to the production.

The CW drama is expected to return for a reduced number of episodes like fellow CW drama “One Tree Hill” did for its final season, the individual said.

A spokesman for the network said that CW has not yet made a decision about picking up any of its scripted shows for next year.

Given its low ratings, the show is seen as perpetually on the bubble. “Gossip Girl” averaged 1.7 million viewers, and a 1.9 rating in the women 18-34 demo, this year. That’s a far cry from the 2.35 million viewers the show averaged in its debut season.

But renewal could be more palatable to the network because all of the show’s stars, including Blake Lively, Ed Westwick, Chace Crawford, and Leighton Meester, are under contract for another season. That will spare CW the potentially costly ordeal of re-negotiating salaries.

“Gossip Girl” centers on the romances, trysts and social rivalries of a group of privileged young adults living in the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

The series celebrated its 100th episode in January. At the time, the show’s producers expressed optimism that “Gossip Girl” would be back with more rivalries and bed-hopping.

“We’re not writing a series finale this year,” Executive Producer Stephanie Savage told zap2it.

Television works just like the theory of evolution: only the strongest survive. You pull in strong ratings, you keep getting renewed, regardless of your content. Sometimes a critically acclaimed award-winning series with low ratings will squeak by, but those are rare.

Upfront announcements are coming up in May, so we thought we’d provide you all with a list of network and cable shows and the status of their renewal chances: safe, in danger, already renewed, already canceled or on the dreaded bubble. This will give you enough time to prepare to mourn a series or celebrate another season…

According to some insider CW info (we get this every year):

Gossip Girl, America’s Next Top Model,90210 and Vampire Diaries were told they are 100% safe and could receive early renewals for next season.

Supernatural is also considered relatively “safe”, there are some issues with its age making it slightly less safe in the above shows, but it is much more likely to be renewed than cancelled and could also make an early renewal.

The CW on the other hand told producers of Hart of Dixie, Nikita, Ringer and surprisingly The Secret Circle that they are “on the bubble”. Their fates will likely depend on how much the CW likes their pilots and how many new shows they are willing to pickup.

Nikita producers were told they may be given a decision early so they can write a series finale arc in the final episodes.

The 100th episode is that magical TV milestone and on Gossip Girl they look set to mark this occasion with the most lavish event yet. The episode won’t air until early 2012, but details have already been released that reveal the focus of the episode and who will be returning to the Upper East Side.

It is not a surprise that they have chosen Blair’s (Leighton Meester) royal wedding to Louis (Hugo Becker) as the center piece for the episode. This show has had more parties and events that require a fancy frock than can be recalled and so this one really has to be truly spectacular. This wedding should provide not just amazing clothes but also a huge amount of tension and drama.

It is unclear as to what role Chuck (Ed Westwick) or Dan (Penn Badgley) will play in the wedding but we do that Serena (Blake Lively) will be the maid of honor. Over the years Blair and Serena have had many ups and downs; executive Joshua Safran spoke to TV Line about the importance of these two in terms of both this episode and the show in general:

“The central relationship has always been the two of them. Blair’s getting married and her best friend is her maid of honor — that’s a core dynamic we’re playing with.”

Will Serena be the Pippa to Blair’s Kate and steal away some of the spotlight? There has been a competitive jealous streak between the pair since season 1 and on this huge occasion I can see this being an issue. Will Serena’s dress be as figure hugging as Pippa Middleton’s or will Blair ensure that the attention stays on the bride with a not so flattering maid of honor dress?

The returning character who is likely to cause havoc is the one and only Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg). The 100th episode is the first of a multi-episode arc for my favourite troublemaker and it has been teased that her story “is unlike anything that she has done before on the show.” Last time we saw Georgina was at the end of season 4, as she was become increasingly bored with her life as a wife and mother. Georgina took an interest in Charlie (Kaylee DeFer) as she could spot her lies and manipulations a mile away (takes one to know one) and didn’t spill her secret about not being on any medication. Their paths look like they will cross as Georgina gave Charlie her phone number at the end of last season and told her to ring if she returned to the city. Is Charlie responsible for Georgina’s return? Or does Georgina just love a good wedding?

What would you like to see happen in the 100th episode? Will Blair actually marry Louis? What do you think Georgina is up to? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
