6.05 Monstrous Ball promo

GGirlsss: Despite not airing a new episode, CW aired a new Gossip Girl promo. Blair, Sage and Dan plan to sabotage Serena and Steven’s relationship.

THE TRUTH — After Eleanor (guest star Margaret Colin) gives Blair (Leighton Meester) an ultimatum, Blair is even more determined to remedy Waldorf Designs’ problems by making a splash with a dress at the upcoming Cotillion, but a shocking revelation at the ball affects everyone. Serena (Blake Lively) becomes worried about Steven’s (guest star Barry Watson) attitude toward her, but after some investigating she discovers the surprising reason why. Chuck (Ed Westwick) finds an unlikely ally as he tries to drive a wedge between Bart (Robert John Burke) and Lily’s (Kelly Rutherford) relationship to help expose his father’s secret. Meanwhile, Dan (Penn Badgley) publishes another article, but the effect is just the opposite of what he was hoping for. Chace Crawford and Matthew Settle also star. Amy Heckerling directed the episode written by Sara Goodman (#605).

Question: Can we expect Serena to reconnect with Dan or Nate on Gossip Girl, or is she with this Steve (Barry Watson) guy for the long haul? —Billie

Ausiello: She reunites with Dan, but there’s a twist: Lonely Boy is totally playing her! (He needs material for his book after all.) And regarding Steven, he disappears for a few episodes but returns in Episode 8 — complete with a 7th Heaven joke. In other Gossip Girl news, MAJOR SPOILER ALERT! (x)

Melissa: Hearing there might be a wedding or two in the series finale of Gossip Girl! What can you tell us?

Well, we can say that if there is indeed a wedding in finale, it looks to be some kind of unexpected twist. In the first eight episodes, no one looks even remotely close to marriage. (x)

Our favorite socialites return to the Upper East Side tonight while trying to recover from the craziness of summer. And even though the premiere episode was a great start to the final season, I think you’ll enjoy tonight’s festivities even more as the drama centers around yet another glamourous event.

Here are 5 mini-spoilers for the episode “High Infidelity”…

1. Serena is just as annoying and self-righteous as ever. While arguing with her new boyfriend, Matt Camden, she drops a William Shakespeare quote to help prove her lies aren’t as bad as his. (Insert eye roll.)

2. Chuck thinks he’s clever enlisting the help of his father’s translator, Amira, to uncover the secrets behind Bart’s fake death, but it turns out that Amira has a secret of her own.

3. Nate and Serena reconnect over their relationship woes and I gotta admit, it’s nice seeing them share the screen again. Too bad it’s soon interrupted by a (totally coincidental) run-in with their respective beaus.

4. While the Blair drama with high school frenemy Nelly Yuki isn’t the best of reunions, it does make for some extra funny Blair Waldorf one-liners. One of my faves: ”Why do you look like the before pictures of people who need botox?”

5. Dan is insistent on getting his book published as is - real names and all - even if it costs him his friends and family. In fact, he takes a nice jab at Chuck and brings up his sister Jenny, who I’m pretty sure the rest of us wish never ever existed.
