Warner Bros. donates “Gossip Girl” Wardrobe

Film Biz Recycling recently re-distributed wardrobe items from the New York production of Warner Brothers’ hit show “Gossip Girl” to three charities in the New York - Career Gear, Bottomless Closet and Goodwill Industries, renowned organizations that operate public and private reuse centers offering employment, job training and other community-based programs for those facing challenges to finding employment.

Canal Creatures shot and produced this video documenting the process of the Gossip Girl wardrobe’s journey from Film Biz to the three charities.

Hey Upper East Siders, Gossip Girl here… Gossip Girl costume designer (ahem, mastermind) Eric Daman gave us the inside scoop on the inspiration behind dressing Blair Waldorf, Serena van der Woodsen, and the other bridesmaid’s for the royal wedding. And while he wouldn’t give away if Blair weds Louis or goes running back into Chuck’s arm, we xoxo what he chose for the big night. —Stephanie Davila

Blair’s Wedding Dress: ”I think Blair is an American princess and that she would look to an American design house that had a couture legacy to it, and Vera really embodies all those things. When I went to Vera’s showroom to look at gowns, this one almost had a halo around it—it just felt like the perfect dress. It was so demure and tasteful. It had like six layers of hand embroidered silk lace. It feels couture and I knew the shape would really show off Leighton [Meester]’s tiny waist.”

Bridesmaids’ Dresses: ”I wanted the bridal party to kind of have a peony feel since that’s Blair’s favorite flower. The bottom of these bridesmaid dresses [White by Vera Wang] look like peonies to me. I had them custom dyed to this pink peony color. The bow on the shoulder is very iconic Blair Waldolf as well.”

Serena’s Dress: ”This is from Vera Wang’s bridal collection. It has an asymmetrical neckline like the others and just felt like she was covered in peonies—and the hand-painted tulle and lace is beautiful. In Old World customs, the maid-of-honor worn a different dress than the other bridesmaids, and since it was a royal wedding, I thought it would be a nice touch.”

The Accessories: ”Again, being that it was a royal wedding I thought it was important to dress all the bridesmaids and guests in hats. Serena is wearing a handmade custom piece by French designer, Johanna Braitbart, and the other bridesmaids are wearing fascinators by New York designer, Sherel’s Hats.”

Tune in to The CW on Monday, January 30 at 8/7c to see where Blair’s heart lies once and for all. See more Vera Wang gowns in our Wedding Dresses gallery, and visit our local vendor listings to find a bridal salon near you.

This weekend when I was in New York I was lucky enough to visit the Gossip Girl wardrobe department and tour the set! Everyone working in the wardrobe department was so nice and it was amazing to see all the clothes that are featured on the show. Serena had the most shoes in her section out of all the characters! Here are some photos of the wardrobe department:

The vertical aisles of clothing are divided by charcter.

Hats and headbands that haven’t been used on the show yet.

Just some of the jewelry that’s used.

This is the fitting room; notice there’s even more jewlery on the other wall!

After touring the wardrobe department I got to see the sets of the character’s apartments! It was so fun to see Blair and Serena’s rooms in person. Out of all the rooms, Blair’s bedroom was definitely my favorite. The Waldorf apartment was decorated with old photos of Leighton Meester when she was younger! Overall it was such an amazing experience and I’m so grateful for it. Thank you all so much for reading the site!
